And is this period too short or long?

Personally, I found it too long between reviews but you may have a different view.

I have been meeting monthly with my psychiatrist for 10.5 years. It's not the typical schedule once people get regulated, they usually go longer in between visits.

My meds have been stable for about 8 years other than weaning down on one

Hi Dolphin14

Monthly meetings is brilliant, that’s not the usual appointment schedule in the UK but I’m so glad you are able to do this x

never had one but now I need to phone up every 4 weeks my last prescription was 28th of July I was convinced I phoned for more the chemist never had them in on Tuesday so have a feeling I might not get them. Thing is I don`t take them if I have a beer or un well and I`ve been un well for a week coughing snorting out and being sick with blood coming up that was Saturday and Sunday morning still not well but thankfully no more blood.

Oh no Kenny kenster1 please speak with your doctor very soon like tomorrow!

You could ask about your meds after they’ve seen you.

Please look after yourself Kenny x

Let me know how you are.

You sound rough Kenny kenster1

Perhaps you could ring her in the morning and mention your meds.

Really hope you feel better soon.

I know my meds get reviewed and re authorised once a year by a GP, but I have never been involved in this process. My surgery has a strange system where anything relating to mental health gets passed to a CPN, but you can never get an appointment with her so I stopped trying a few years back. Since everything has gone electronic at my surgery you need to be online at 8:30am to submit a request and I’m not usually awake then. I also think that the GPs look at my history, and the fact that I haven’t “bothered” them for a while and choose not to “rock the boat”. As you can probably tell I’m very wary of all healthcare professionals and have as little contact as possible.

I really understand this system PurpleEllie

It's a really difficult and frustrating experience. I've just come off the phone after trying to speak with a Dr that rang me 2hrs ago, no chance and 22 in the queue! I'm the same, I avoid contact unless urgent.

I think they just don't have mental health experience, I could be wrong but if you can't get an appointment with the CPN, well something is not right.
