so i am a 32 year old lesbian female, recovering addict, currently going through a lengthy court case, becoming a convicted felon and looking at jail time, within the next 16 days. these are my first ever criminal charges, my record is pretty clean but im still looking at jail time because the prosecutor didnt want to give me a chance in hell. these charges are from 2020 and since then i can truly say i have absolutely turned my life around, and all on my own as well way before these charges were even indicted. so that has me in a rut. im happily engaged to the woman of my dreams and that part of my life seriously could not be going any better. have our own house, car, a pet cat, credit score is almost 700. im doing damn good 3 years later. yet the courts dont give a single fuck. i truthfully do not have a single friend, that i talk to on occasion, or even ever so often. my family is no support at all. my mother is narcissistic, father is absent, grandfather is dead and grandmother has dementia. no one else gives a shit. normally i am such an independent person that i dont even like going to my own mothers house for an extended period of time. but the loneliness im feeling right now i have no idea how to handle. i have so many things i need to vent about, or ask opinons about, and literally only my fiancee to talk to. thanks for listening <3 💚

Hey there. It sounds like you have had quite the journey! First and foremost, good work on turning things around. I am so sorry you are facing jail time. I hope that the court can present how you have changed and maybe your sentence will be reduced or changed. I know having a good attorney in these situations may be key. However, I am not immune to huge legal bills having gone through a nasty divorce. I actually volunteer in my state for folks coming out of the system to help integrate back into society. When you match with a person, you really don't know what to expect. I usually let them take the lead on what they need and if I can help in anyway. I think what is positive is that you have yourself set up already. Coming back will be hard I'm sure, but you have things to look forward to. Many folks in jail here come out with nothing. You may need to do some time, but you did change and you did improve and you have the wonderful things in your life. I think the support of your fiancé is key and she sounds quite lovely. I too only have my husband for support in life so I understand how hard it is to rely on yourself or just one other. Feel free to PM me if you have other questions or thoughts to share. I may not have the answers but I'm always happy to support. As for family mentioned, I know how hard it is!

MsLonely1991, ok...breathe in really deep from the bottom of your lungs and exhale even more slowly...Alright, you have a number of options. 1) fire your attorney. Even if it's public defender, you need to show just cause for requesting a new representative. All court procedures will wait for your appointment. I hope you can feel empowered to meet with different lawyers, find one of them who fits you, and listens. 2) Gather important letters of reference. From your betrothed, your employer, past landlord? Or someone else who has been important in your life. Include your own letter to the Judge, explaining your clean record, and all of your strengths. Letter writing can be done while looking for new attorney. 3) Ask for a re examination of the evidence that should have been shared with you in a paper packet called a discovery. Question everything and argue against any thought that made the court bring charges. And how can they prove they're right? 4) if you were served with papers or arrested, bring up in court your cooperation with officers, and if you have this intense of a fear of jail, see your regular doctor, for a referral to a psychiatrist or psychologist. They can do these meetings with mental health professionals over tele-psyche so you'll be seen sooner. They can more accurately assess the fear, and how far you've come these years. 5) Ask for a jury trial. It'll take a while for the court to put together, you should receive a written notice well B4 trial, and change your mind..ask for a bench decision...and back and forth, changing your mind. This is a right. But will not look good. Causing lengthy delays. Give you time to think? Question the evidence brought against you? 6) A plea agreement can be offered, with a clean record and stable life, this is likely. Deferred Sentencing will keep you out of jail, or with minimal time. This is a double edged sword, carefully read all paper work, and requirements. If you have already seen the doctors (#4) it's possible they may recommend anti anxiety medication, which, in worst case scenario, would help you through a short stay.

Sorry so long winded..I don't think you'll do any time. A few years of felony probation, yeah, you'll be in the system ...but the way you sound, grounded and solid minded, you will be able to handle probations requirements, added onto court requirements, with no trouble.

Best wishes, and you'll be never alone, Ms.♥️
