Schizoaffective and perplexed

I’ve dealt with schizoaffective disorder for about 6 years now. My church, family and especially myself are really wanting to get married because I want to love someone. I want to have a family. I haven’t been successful these years and it seems nothing has really gone in my desire. Should I try if I don’t think schizoaffective people get married, or should I try for the rest of my life?

I think the question is not whether schizoaffective people should get married, but whether you should get married.

How are you managing? Have you been stable for a while? What are your expectations and hopes from marriage?

I have a bipolar diagnosis, and I didn’t know it before I had children. Being a bipolar parent is really, really hard. And it affects the kids. But being a bipolar wife is easier. My husband doesn’t depend on me to the same extent, and I can tell him a bit about how I feel.

Hope this helps.

Take care.
