This is not on purpose.is it anxiety? I have not been well with my depression for years now. I have not worked in 3 years with no benefits just my savings .So much more to my story but would have to write a novel.

Sorry that you have suffered so long and without benefits. I too suffer from severe major depression alternating with anxiety but I have not been aware of holding my breath. Would like to hear more but not a novel. Wish you well.

Sometimes when I am struggling to cope I pull my knees up to my chest and hold my breath without realising ive done it until my head pulses and I stop myself. I think for me its almost like a self-harm thing in the sense that im trying to distract my thoughts with external sensations. Dunno if that makes sense. Please do feel free to share more, the point of this place is to get it out!

Take care xx
