9 months on and some hope

Hi all, it’s been a while since I posted.....

It’s been a tough ride since last August and having to stop work was not easy. I returned to work in May but as my own boss.

I have been lucky enough to have been bought a pair of widex hearing aids which play zen tones , not sure if they have but I am in a diffent place to where I was.

I’m currently undergoing CBT specifically for tinnitus so I will let you know how I get on.

Good news is I now get days where I feel like me and I have low volume tinnitus, which isn’t today.

I regularly do breathing excercises and can recommend a free on line e tinnitus programme. Admin am i allowed to post this link? I’m sure some of you have come across it before but it offers some good educational assistance and relaxation techniques.

I remain on antidepressants and without them I would not be functioning. I am 47 years old and can tell you habituation is possible , having done this twice when I had left ear tinnitus only and that was loud!

My own advice is to try and remain positive but think positive although this is hard at times.

I believe I’m slowly recovering but there are still many lows but highs too.

Keep well all

Dean

Good afternoon Dean, thank you for coming back and letting us know how you are getting on. It's great to hear that you are in a better place now, and I hope that others will take comfort from that.

Happy for you to post the link to the free programme, especially if it's the one I think it is!

Warmest wishes

Nic

Hi Dean, nice to read that you are in a much better place. I have been through the tinnitus cycle - shock, bewilderment, trying every medical avenue to find out why, anxiety, depression, feeling that I would never be me again, isolation- the whole works.

Three and a half years later and my life is back to normal. Medication for me helped with sleeping and gradually reducing anxiety. Time heals.

Best wishes and please let us know how you progress.

Thanks Angela. Time does heal and removing myself from a stressful job has helped . I still have a long way to go but I am starting to enjoy life again.

It’s been life changing but as a positive I have now started my own business, so without tinnitus this would of not happend.

Best wishes

Dean

Hi . I am taking fluxotine and amitriplyine at night . I now wear hearing as as I have low frequency hearing loss.

I am on a pilot CBT course which is private but free at the moment for me. It’s been a tough ten months and tody is very bad however I am being far more rational. I have sounds in both ears and of different pitches etc .. not good but I believe it’s through years of stress .

Have a look at the website for e tinnitus programme which is free and does help me . My CBT is with the person who wrote it. Best wishes Dean
