More problems... found this happens to me and no idea what it is wrong. Had tests last year and of course, they found nothing wrong. Just got snapped at that "it will come down eventually". Yes and I had a period that lasted 2 and a half weeks.
When I have my period (this one is 9 days late after the last one was 6 days after the other one), when I have no tampon in, it floods and is heavy, but when put in a tampon, it pushes the period back up me and the tampon is clear (no blood on it at all). I cannot seem to make people understand what I mean, which really frustrates me. It's like the period blood is pushed back up inside me.
I did have a inner vaginal scan about 5 weeks ago which was clear, but could not go through with the pelvis scan I was supposed to have, as despite drinking the amount of water suggested, they said my bladder was not even half full. I said could I just go and sit outside drinking more water and they got angry with me that others were waiting with full bladders. Not heard anything from the doctors to have a further one done. This happened about 6 years back but was allowed to drink water until they were satisfied I could have the scan. This time I get told the water has to be in there "at least an hour".
Has this happened to anyone else? I feel like a freak and that nobody believes me. I do believe I am perimenopausal, and tried combined HRT but had to come off it because of the dizziness and side effects. I have not been on it for nearly 2 months now.

Is it possible that it's the tampon and not you? What you describe doesn't really sound logical, because at the very least you would have blood on the vestibule, which the tampon would scrape off as it's inserted, even if your flow subsequently stops. If there is no blood at all on it, then it sounds like your tampon isn't absorbing anything.
I'd consider a different brand of tampon, check there isn't a protective coating that isn't coming off when you insert, or even consider a mooncup which would collect the flow in a different way.
I had a bladder scan about 10 years ago, and was told to drink plenty water in the days before and to have a big glass of water at least an hour before my appointment so your bladder would be full by the time you arrived. It was torture being made to wait 20mins beyond the appointment time, so I can see why they didn't want to hold other patients up! Did they not tell you to do that?
I just don't know how to explain this to people - the period is there, flowing ok, I put in a tampon, leave it a few hours and there is nothing on it, as if not having a period at all. There is nothing wrong with the brand I use - been using them since I was 20 (the Boots own brand).
All I was told re the scan was to have "2 full glasses of water an hour before your appointment", which I did, and I mean 2 pints of water, not small glasses. I had also had a coffee too and had not gone to the toilet after the first one when I got up. I understand others were waiting to be seen but why not let the next person in to be seen and I would gladly waited outside while drinking more water. Their whole air was rude, as if I hadn;t followed the instructions I was told.
I suspect Covid might have put them off letting you sit in the waiting room and coming back in, just in terms of if they have to disinfect the room thoroughly after you, then again after the next person, before letting you come back in again? Maybe not, but it's the only thing I can think of that's different between 2014 and now
Although it's the same brand you've always used, they may have changed the materials, so it's still worth trying a different brand. It's a really simple thing to rule out in the first instance.
After scouring the internet for this and not finding much - I saw a condition called Retrograde Menstruation and it seems to match it closest. I have had 2 operations for endomentriosis, so am worried I will need a 3rd one. The last one I had done, around 12 years ago, the doctor was not very nice and very heavy handed and caused me a lot of pain. She said if I had a 3rd operation it would be fatal - that still scares me now.
