9 months no period, now spotting.

I’ve gone 9 months with no period. I’m 52 and thought it was finally here. The heavens opened and no more PMDD. I was happy and calm almost all the time although I have had some strange physical symptoms. But, about a week ago, I started experiencing what I felt like was PMS, and today I was weepy and tired just like the old days. Then, I started spotting. My gyro told me I might have another period, but it seemed like after 9 months it wouldn’t happen again. Anyone else experience this and does it mean I start counting from this point on for 12 months even though it was just a little spotting? Not much on Dr Google about it.
