Which form of iron do you take?

If it's ferrous fumarate which is an industrial byproduct, change to ferrous sulphate or bisglycinate. Some types are sold as gentle iron, though anything other than fumarate should be easier on your digestion. Make sure to take the correct dosage, away from food & drink containing calcium & tannins, & with something like fruit or raw leafy greens for vitamin C which increases absorption.

Yes, I bought Gentle Iron 20mg from Holland and Barrett’s, took one daily. After taking 3-4 tablets I got terrible bloating/wind/stomach pain etc. Took me 30 days to recover.

Haven’t touched iron since.

I guess it’s a good idea to take lower strength.

When you’re very low on iron the doctor gives you Ferrous Fumarate which is 210mg once daily but I haven’t looked up on how much iron that contains and different types of iron.

Didn’t want my stomach to feel like that again.

Did you try other forms of Iron or a lower dosage and was any of them better on your stomach as I get the same problem so would be good to know what worked for you.

Thanks.

I am Male but I clicked on reply and it says I’m a member of Womens Health.

Does it matter ? Do I have to do something to “be out” of Women’s Health?

I mean I don’t need to be in it.
