I really wanna lose 50-60 pounds but that desire fades often within a week. I’ll let my loneliness, anxiety, stress at work overwhelm me and eat fried foods and sweets to comfort me. I’m sure most of you have and may still be experiencing what I am going thru.
I want to know how do I make my physical health a priority when everything else is not going well. Bad foods in excess are such a comfort when you don’t have healthy friendships and are diagnosed with bipolar, anxiety, borderline personality disorder along with adhd.
I can’t motivate myself to exercise often or leave the house. I let my intrusive negative thoughts keep me isolated and stay in my comfort zone.
what has helped you in your journey to maintain consistency and motivation to eat healthy when you don’t want to and exercise when your exhausted and alone.
I’m stuck and hoping some tips will help me in staying consistent in working out and eating right when I don’t want to or have any energy to do so. Thank you

Good afternoon Reinventingmyself36 and welcome to our forum.
You are right in that many of us have and still do reach for the comfort food when the stresses of life get to much for us. I personally don't think there's a magic cure for it except for time. I've suffered from anxiety and depression for most of my life and when the stress or frustration gets too much i will still drive to the shops, or use on line shoping if i cant, to fill my cupboards with all the things i know wont really make me feel any better and will make me gain weight, but that i cant resist. What i can say though is that as time has gone on those occurrences don't last as long so less damage is done on the weight front. As soon as i start feeling more in control i get straight back to regular eating - taking it one day at a time, or sometimes just one meal at a time, until i'm back where i should be my eating. This forum comes into its own too at these times as there's nothing like the support from other people who go through the same thing to help you through it all.
This forum is all about peer to peer support and we regularly give each other virtual hugs and bolstering when its needed.
Motivation has to come from something that's just for you, its very difficult to do this if you want to do it for someone else so find an event, or an item of clothing or anthing that matters to you and say, that's why i'm going to do this. Stick a note on your fridge or the back of the loo door lol if you need to to remind yourself why you want to do this
You've taken the first step by joining us, your next step is to click around the site and get familiar with everything, a good starting place is our pinned posts, here's a link to make it easy to find
As already mentioned, this forum thrives on peer to peer support and we suggest as a minimum to join in with the Weekly Weigh In and the Daily Diary. Both will give you a good start on your journey. The more you chat the more support you will get and be able to give. Take a look at the other threads too and join in with whatever takes your fancy.
You will see we have a challenge running at the moment, its coming up to half way through but don't let that stop you joining in A bit of extra motivation goes a long way
We look forward to seeing you around the site and joining in. Any problems, just shout out and someone will be there to help you out xx
Thank you so much for encouraging and supportive advice. You’re so welcoming. Thank you for also sharing your struggles. I will try to join weekly. Good luck on your journey to weight loss as well.
You're very welcome and thank you. i have found that as I've followed my weight loss journey my anxiety and depression have pretty much faded away, only surfacing when things really get on top of me, thankfully not too often now

You have already identified the issue of feeling alone and that is one of the main contributing factors to giving up. Here with us, you can see what other people are doing, and take away tips and advice as well as see people's goals and achievements which will help you to set your own. You will be able to share your own which will in turn help others in similar situations. The simple act of sharing your achievements is in of itself a great motivator in striving for more.

Finally, remember, you are no longer alone. Welcome to the community.
You should get past worrying about yout weight and assimilate that it's just a symptom of your bad diet which is also causing all your other health and mental problems. It's also slowly causing cardiovascular and metaboic problems which will eventually cause problems and be diagnosed as diseases. Sweet foods push up your blood sugar which messes with your hunger and sateity hormones to make you want to eat more and more often. They also cause a release of dopamine so thy are actually a mild drug so you get hooked. You can start by exchanging the fried and sweet foods for healthier options when you feel the urge to comfort eat. I started by exchanging sweet snacks with spiced nuts and although snacking wasn't ideal those foods didn't impact my health and weren't so addictive.
You might find overeaters anonymous helpful. There is a lot of support for lonely people with in it as well as a lot of weight loss wisdom you wont find anywhere else.
Could I ask if you are on your own weight loss journey? If so there are groups on here that might suit you to join in with fully. Any questions just let us know.
