Hello everyone, I'm a 56yr old grandmother with osteoarthritis. I'm currently 18st 2lb and struggling to lose weight. I work full time and most days don't finish work till after 9pm. which is not a great time to come home and start cooking. At work the facilities consist of a fridge and a kettle again not ideal for making breakfast or lunches. Hopefully with some help and guidance

Welcome Rosered61 Sorry to hear about the osteoarthritis.

Eating sensibly can be difficult even when we work 'normal' hours. I'm generally too lazy to cook even when it's much earlier than 9p.m. (more likely that I'm asleep by then :) ). I get around that by precooking and freezing many of my meals at the weekend.

We have a Daily Diary which you can find under 'Events' on the right hand side of your computer screen after clicking on 'Home'. Within that, you'll find what other's are doing for their meals and maybe you can spot ideas that will help you in your situation.

Wishing you a good journey.

Hello and welcome Rosered61 😊

Planning is key when it comes to eating properly whilst working shifts. Remember you deserve good nutrition! Your body certainly deserves it, it’s not a punishment but a reward for carrying you around for 56 years, and producing your children and Grandchildren 😊

Best wishes

Anna

Welcome Rosered. That work pattern is a real challenge, so you'll have to be creative in planning what to eat and when. Maybe thinking through your break times, having a substantial meal before you go to work, preparing something you can quickly heat up while taking off your coat and shoes at the end of a long day.

Would there be any possibility of getting a microwave at work? Maybe you could get colleagues on board to request this. Then you could bring home prepared foods and soups to reheat.

Good luck with it all. Setting yourself achievable steps along the way might help. First of all, getting below the 18st mark; when you've made your first bit of progress, congratulate yourself and let us all know and we'll congratulate you, too!

Not what you're looking for?
