“I hear her voice in the morning hour, she calls me, the radio reminds me of my home far away.
And driving down the road I get a feeling that I should have been home yesterday, yesterday.” John Denver
Well I was dragged up by parents who loved country and western, I had an older sister who adored Barry Manilow, the next sister in line loved Pelvis (oops Elvis), my younger sister loved Slade / Tears for Fears and the youngest sister loved Bucks Fizz.
Me, I was a D.J. in my teen years and grew to like absolutely everything from Heavy Metal to Blues, Fourties, Fifties, Sixties, Seventies, Eighties, Nineties and Naughties mainstream, Country music, World music, Reggae, Jazz and the list goes on.
Today however I weighed in 2lb lighter once again so am down from 200lb to 194lb in two weeks and I am happy with my progress. Singing my own music.
I really feel like I am heading home, back to where I belong, so today’s music is, “Almost heaven …” where “life is old there, older than the trees, younger than the mountains and blowing like a breeze.”
If you do not like John Denver’s version then try out Israel Kamakawiwo'ole’s version.
Israel had such a beautiful voice. Probably one of Hawaii’s best exports (folk / world / reggae) and if you want to try him out for the first time I recommend the song 'Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful World'. Also note at 6 feet 2 inches he weighed in at 54 stone 1lb. He endured several hospitalisations because of health problems caused by his weight. Beset with respiratory, heart, and other medical problems, he died at the age of 38 in Queen's Medical Center at 12:18am on 26th June 1997. I still loved his music and have a few of his CDs.
See it does not matter what you look like, how much you weigh or where you live, you still have a massive affect on people without you knowing about it.
May you continue to bless those around you.
