(starting weight 10 st 3 - goal 8 st 12)

day 1- when over recommended calories - felt hungry

day 2- did better at 1400 cals, but so hungry

day 3 - ate only 900 cals - too few

day 4 - didn't feel hungry, so thought i could reduce the calories each day and get to goal quicker - felt terrible - sick and headache

day 5 - realised i'd been stupid the previous day and this is a journey and a time to make life long changes rather than just losing weight and going back to same old, same old.

day 6 - got it right - i feel. i made lovely food. stuck to the 1400 cals.felt good.

day 7 - today - no take out last night - yay! i realised that i don't eat take out because i like them, but more because its a treat off cooking for the week. treated myself to some prawns and salmon instead and throughly enjoyed.

day 8 - tomorrow -feeling apprehensive to do the weigh in!

Hi

Have you done the BMI check? nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/Healthyw... this will give you your calorie range and will help :)

Take a look at the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen (bottom, if you're using a mobile) and have a look at the Welcome Newbies thread.

Look at the Topics section beneath that, for posts that could answer any questions you may have. Consider joining any, or all, of our challenges, as they're fun and motivating.

Join us for one of the Group weigh-in. The latest weigh-in thread can always be found in the Events section, to the right (bottom) of the home page.

Be active on the forum, as that's where we exchange ideas and get our daily dose of motivation and inspiration and don't be afraid to ask for assistance, if you need it

Wishing you all the best as you start on your journey to health and happiness

Like Hidden mentioned... make sure you know what your real calorie level should be.

That aside, your week doesn't seem much different from my 1st week, nor my 2nd or even my 3rd. We are unlikely to get anything right from day one but the trick is to learn. Its good that you are keeping track of each day, its a good way of seeing what's going on in your life and adjusting accordingly.

Keep working at it, you'll get there.

Yes thanks - i checked my BMI and following the recommended calories. Normally eat around 1700 - 2000 each day anyway, so i am slightly worried that i won't lose any weight even at 1400. but will see what happen. I weighing my food and trying to be as accurate as i can. Getting into it a bit now and looking forward to cooking new recipes on the second week!!

Not having enough calories may well have a detrimental effect. You may find the following of some interest...

thanks for that link. Had a quick read and going to read it thoroughly tomorrow. Interesting and complicated this losing weight business. I am learning a lot from this forum! My body feels pretty much in balance at the moment and this last week has been a bit challenging. Felt pretty sad that I had entered the overweight category on the bmi scale, but I don't want to make any unhealthy changes and make for a quick fix.

You're welcome. I used to be the fittest person I know and now I'm an old fat git. I am getting there though. Step by step, bit by bit.

You're right, there's a lot to learn. I've learnt loads since I've been on this forum and still do. People keep posting things that are eye opening. That's good though, as the more you know, the better decisions you can make.

Good luck!

Hi, I'm new to the 12 week plan and I'm confused about logging calories. My target is 1400 a day but I'm not sure if you log exercise cals?

For example, if I ate 1700 cals in 1 day but I did exercise and burnt 300 cals would I log my daily...
