Hi everyone. Just joined. I have 11/2stones to lose. I've lost and gained a stone several times over the last ten years but this time I want it to stay off because my cholesterol and blood pressure are increasing. I'm 63 and need to get it under control or will end up on medication. I'm a member of a gym and try to attend a few classes each week. It has been mostly Pilates yoga and treadmill walking over the last year but last week I added in some aqua fit and a body pump class. I managed to put on a pound π

You have certainly come to the right place. This is such a supportive place to be, everybody will help, no one will judge and there is lots of advice.
Mine would be log your calories on MyFitnessPal app which is easy to install and use and be very clear that food must be weighed and calories counted or you end up fooling yourself. A good diet is most important.
Try to read one of a Dale Pinnock's books. He writes super recipe books but always based on using the right foods that help particular conditions. He has one called Heart Disease, I think it is really interesting, explains things in an easy to understand way. I use lots of his books and the recipes are great.
Enjoy your journey and keep visiting the forum.
Do you know have many calories you should really eat in a day anyway. I know that MyFitnessPal tells me I should have 1200 a day but with my bmi index it tells me I can have around 1360 and 1730 so I more stick to what my bmi tells me because I never used to have enough calories and was always putting on weight. This used to confuse me so I was always never fully happy. I am so much happier as well because now I am eating more and losing weight. This sounds really strange to many but is working. Just by coming on here I have had three wins in one. It is a great place for advice and help.
