Sometimes you get the weight loss you feel you 'deserve' from your restraint or your activity, other times you won't. Sometimes the figure on the scales will go down when you least expect it. Or up!

I reckon learning how to respond to all of these is one of the critical factors in long term success achieving and maintaining a healthy weight and activity level.
