Im 47 years old 5ft 9 inches weigh 118kg. I go to the gym/classes for 6 hours a week. Why is my weight no moving?

Because you are building muscle. You should get a body composition test and find out exactly how much fat you are carrying. You'll probably find the amount is dropping each week but as you are gaining muscle it isn't showing. You don't mention diet and if you are exercising that much it shouldn't be too restrictive, but perhaps try cutting back on any pointless sugar you are consuming. Changing snacks to energy-packed nuts and seeds (cashews are my favourite) is a good way to give your body the right energy for the exercise in a slow-burning form.

Who do you get a body a body composition test from? Dr?

Hi are you dieting too? If you're monitoring your food intake and exercising then perhaps ignore the scales but go on how you clothes feel.

All carbohydrates (glucose) raise your insulin levels, to slowdown the effect on your body you need to choose carbs with a high fibre content, like sweet potato, and eat high fibre vegetables. Keep your carbs low, especially refined carbs and sugar.

Exercise actually burns a lot less energy than most people expect. A 1 hour hard work-out will probably burn less than 400 Calories. The exercise is good for your body, but does not really consume a large amount of energy and as a tendency to make one hungrier. The only way to lose weight is really to reduce calorie intake. I am about your weight and for a normal metabolic rate and a large frame your body should require ~3,500 Calories to maintain the weight. Thus, to lose significant weight, you need to cut your Calorie intake to less than 2,500 Calories which should lose you 1-2 lb/week. To begin with it may be fluid, but eventually it will be real mass. To keep the weight off, one should not exceed 2 lb/week witho ut medical supervision.
