Fab, well done!! That must be hard but it will be well worth it when you begin to see the results
Well done! That's not easy!
Actually, you can eat chocolate(s) and still shed the excess weight - but just very little amounts of chocolate, very occasionally.
It's a sobering thought to think back a few centuries to before we had either chocolate or, indeed, sugar. And even when sugar arrived on these shores, it was an exceptional treat for only the richest of the rich. Ordinary people sweetened things with honey.
Perhaps that's what drives people to believe they ought to want chocolate bars and sweets and sugary deserts - basically a form of jealousy, I suppose, a kind of "I deserve this treat, this bit of luxury".
Or perhaps it's just the food industry and the advertising agencies making a buck at Jo Public's expense.
Whichever way, it's a myth. If you were allergic to chocolate, you'd get by just fine. (My other half is and does).
Good luck with your weight loss journey.
Well done on avoiding the chocolate. Unfortunately for many people sugar is addictive, and the more you have the more you want. The occasional treat is ok, as Doikosp said.
The effects of too much sugar on your body are not just the possibility of putting on weight but some severe health problems. Have a look for Dr Robert Lustig's video if you are interested in the science.

Watch out for 'hidden' sugars in common food, especially low fat foods. There are many suggestions on the net on how to beat a sugar addiction. It took me several goes to give up, but it was worth it as my general health and energy have improved.
