Family that decided to go Vegan

This is a sad story, just goes to show people's ignorance. I and I expect most of you on here would not dismiss/fall out with someone if they ate meat/meat and dairy.

Hi Alicia, this is a very interesting subject and I think people have different views on things at different times in their lives and we all have different opinions for a reason. I understood vegetarians but I didn’t used to get why anyone would be vegan and then looked into the dairy industry and it all made sense.

I was reading an article last year and it was explaining that veganism is better for health and the environment but it would cause huge problems on the earth if suddenly everyone went vegan overnight at the same time but in time the biggest part of the population will be vegan.

Ali 🙂🌱

Hi Ali

I was the same. My view was I'm doing alright as I don't eat animals apart from fish (I was a pescatarian) and I have dairy but animals aren't killed for it.

Educating people is the best thing but it would have to be done in the right way i.e. by scientists and with proof. If I said to my husband that eating meat was bad for him or asked him to look at the latest news story he wouldn't believe me, it's entirely up to him.

There's no way I would treat someone like they were an outcast just because they have different beliefs to me.

We need to be kind to each other.😀

I was a vegetarian for 40 years in total ignorance of the horrors of the dairy industry. I used to think that cows producing milk was natural and we were being kind to them to remove it. But that is very very var from the truth...

Overall dairy cows have dramatically reduced life spans (perhaps 3-4 years rather than a natural 25 years) during which they are repeatedly and forecefully impregnated through their anus so that they will continue to lactate. Repeated pregnancy is a huge drain on that cows' life energy. When the cow cannot keep up the productin rate needed for human consumption they are termed "spent." At which moment they are taken immediately from the dairy machines direct to slaughter. From whence their meat (and other body parts) goes into meat burgers.

All calves (their babies!!!) they create are removed immediately so that humans can drink the cows milk rather than the calves, for whom nature actually intended that milk. Many male calves born from the dairy industry are destined for the veal industry where they are killed aged 6 months old. Sometimes this veal industry is done abroad, so the calves are exported en-masse meaning long lorry journeys - remember these are babies!

Most vegans, and now myself included consider the dairy industry to be the worst of the meat industry. If you want to know more watch the film cowspiracy.

Thank you very much andyswarbs for your very informative response.

I totally agree with you, the dairy industry is so cruel but if course those that make money out of the industry will always tell you that the cows are treated well. Putting it purely that's 'poppycock'! This couldn't be further from the truth.

I love mocha as a drink and love it with cashew or coconut milk. The chocolate powder I use is a normal one, not expensive advocating it's Vegan to bump the price up, it's Morrison's and has no milk in it.

I love making my own food as well, my favourite being Chickpea curry. Making it yourself means your safe in the knowledge what's gone into it.

On another note, I would never have a 'go' at a meat eater or vegetarian, it's for them to read about it and find out. People can be so cruel to each other.

Also, thank you for letting me have the name of the video, I'll watch that.
