This was in Fridays Independent, "a new study is adding fuel to the plant-based fire by reporting that vegan protein is far healthier than meat for the heart."
This is good news especially after their article earlier in the week, it just gets better. And what I think this shows is how important it is to eat wisely...
That's great news, and great it's being reported like this. Looks like the underlying research comes from the seventh day adventist study, which as the name suggests follows adherents of that religion in Linda loma and has already provided lots of evidence for the benefits of veganism (they are one of the blues zones in that book).
What makes them so useful from an epidemiological viewpoint is they provide a well matched cohort that differs in degrees of meat eating, vegetarianism and veganism allowing the effects of specific factors to show up.
Hi Ben, I'm an admirer of Jethro Kloss and in his Back to Eden cook book he says that in years to come our hospitals would be full of people because of the food that they were eating and he was right. And as he as you know was a seventh day adventist as were the Kellogg brothers.
What you say about the blue zone is interesting so here's a link:
We have 7th Day Adventists out here where I live, but I'm not sure if they do the same as the ones who are in California. Now, you've gotten me curious.
