I'm in cumbria for a few days, and today is market day in the village and I see sheep in pens and in trailers behind 4x4s. I'm not actually sure what is happening, whether the farmers are selling the animals to each other or if they are going for slaughter. But if it's the latter then on this beautiful fall morning, I'm witnessing these animals' last day on earth.
I think all I can do is reaffirm my commitment to be vegan

So very sad benwyl. I find it utterly heartbreaking and incomprehensible how people can cause suffering to sentient beings ... just cos they want to eat them 😭
it is heartbreaking. And one thing that struck me this morning was how casual and routine it all was. People were just chatting - and there was a van selling tea and (presumably) meat burgers as refreshment - and going about their business with no indication of the suffering they are inflicting, just because , as you said, people like the taste of them.
I know benwl. When I speak to people who eat meat re the suffering they say they cannot bear to think about it .... seriously? I strongly feel that if you are going to eat animals , you should see what happens to them on their way to the killing floor.
Oh dear Ben, it’s awful when you see something like this. Is so sad and you feel helpless to stop it. It does reaffirm your commitment to being vegan and that’s good thank you for posting.
Thank you. i know that theres nothing I can do for the animals I saw today but reading all the positive news on this forum gives me hope that over time we can all make a difference and this will be stopped.
I know it's awful. I was holidaying in the country in Derbyshire a few weeks ago - I love walking and so enjoyed all the rail tracks. I was happily enjoying my time until we went in to Bakewell one day to start a walk from there along the Tissington Trail. When we went to park the car it was really busy and I said to my husband it looks like a farmers' market (unfortunately my husband is a meat eater and it's up to him, I wish I could change him but unfortunately there is nothing I can do at present) and all I could hear when we started on our walk were cows mooing. I really do not like farmers' markets any more.
There is no way on this earth that I am going back to animal products.
