This is the vicious cycle of poor health and climate crisis happening on this Earth. How can we make a difference? ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’š

Hello Everyone, hope you are keeping warm, stay safe, stay healthy and enjoy your day!๐Ÿค—

This is the article from PETA that I came across and it makes sense to me why this is disastrous as a residence here. Wholesome veggies are not affordable in California while meat and dairy products are at a fraction of the cost. Government budget goes towards unhealthy, toxic food for our health and environment from tax payers when it should go towards small businesses that can provide quality food with ethics.

On top of that, as I watch the Local News, government hands out turkeys for this Thanksgiving week to people like an act of charity when instead they could subsidize organic foods. Itโ€™s an ongoing problem and it wonโ€™t stop until the people make the right choice of food consumption to demand wholesome food instead.

As our family now chooses Vegan lifestyle, we do not follow traditional Turkey killing for Thanksgiving dinner and we will continue making our choice to keep this planet green and compassionate for animals affair. ๐Ÿ’š

Wish Everyone in the US has a great Thanksgiving and those around the World a wonderful holiday season! ๐Ÿ˜Šโ˜ฎ๏ธ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ™

I TOTALLY AGREE!! ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒŸFruit and veggies are the healthiest foods, especially organic !

Meat and dairy is unhealthy but highly subsidised and promoted โ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

Makes you wonder โ€ฆ

Hi JanieL,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us here in VFL! ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™

To me, this is pandemic and it falls on the people who canโ€™t afford wholesome organic fruits and veggies. The change only happens when each individual demands wholesome food subsidies instead of being content of toxic charities. The damage is beyond what people can see in front of their eyes.

Iโ€™m grateful for each member in VFL as we will keep doing our part to live harmoniously with this planet. ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ’š

Totally agree aswell - you reap what you sow and now its coming back to haunt us all.

I signed a petition the other day, whicn annoyed me on many levels, it was about demanding better treatment for turkeys - which I absolutely in favour off - but I did say how I thought it was hypocritical to be outraged by what goes on on these farms but it seems perfectly fine to send these lovely creatures to s*******r. If people didn't eat meat - this would not happen. I wish people could look at the whole picture - take off the blinkers.

We all need access to healthy foods, so we can make the right choices for our body and mind

in reply to Kitten-whiskers

Yes I have seen that happen to lots of cruel people thinking they have been clever and then getting what they deserved eventually!

Thank you Debs for sharing your thoughts on this topic. ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ™

When I read it this morning, I felt very disturbed by the fact that CA is one of the highest tax rate state (10 percent for sales tax and property tax is kept being raised)and all that goes into this toxic meats subsidized budget to animals farming factories? ๐Ÿคฏ

Itโ€™s like a domino effect now we have to suffer from climate crisis, food shortages, poor air quality and the rising of chronic illness.

Thatโ€™s very good Debs that you signed the petition for the compassion for these turkeys during this time as I did sign mine also this morning. Nevertheless, itโ€™s absurd to hand out turkeys like candies instead of fresh veggies, fruits for people. Every single time after thanksgiving dinner, people end up in hospitals as well as their pets because they eat and feed fatty toxic Turkey meat to their pets when their bodies canโ€™t really digest all that.

Yes all that animal hormone consumption in the body will turn into toxic waste inside and it will come out eventually as fatty livers and kidney, pancreatic failure because they have to filter and store all that toxicity.

If people just say no to meat then animal farm factories will be out of business, no more animal breeding and being killed for profits; hence Iโ€™m sure we all can afford fresh organic products, problems solved.

Vegans are such minority and I hope people someday can โ€œgo against the grainโ€ to stop promoting and consuming meat but choosing fresh veggies, fruits as we all can thrive on this lifestyle. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Š

Itโ€™s very sad that thereโ€™s so much food poverty around us. I saw a great quote some time ago: โ€œThereโ€™s enough for everyoneโ€™s need, but not enough for everyoneโ€™s greed.โ€ Also farming animals, apart from being unjust and cruel for the animals, is not a good use of resources. If the food thatโ€™s fed to animals was fed directly to people, it could feed ten times more people.

Iโ€™m going to have Thanksgiving dinner with my mum, vegan haggis (which is cereals, pulses and spices) with mashed potatoes and vegetables, and gravy. My mumโ€™s going to make a pumpkin pie ๐Ÿ˜‹Happy holidays to everyone ๐Ÿค—

What upsets me is the unfair distribution of food in the world!

Itโ€™s truly sad to see poverty and poor health as a result. Thatโ€™s an absolutely brilliant quote to sum it up the meaning of to what level would satisfy people need to feel content when there are people just wish for some fresh potatoes on their plates ?!๐Ÿคฏ

Thereโ€™s truth in what you said, stuff the animals with food that can feed a large number of people. Itโ€™s just the whole breeding animals irritates me so much. From the start to the finish is like going through one horrific event to another for these animals.๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜

That sounds wonderful you are going to have vegan haggis with your mum. ๐Ÿค— I was discussing with my mom what we would have and she likes veggies eggrolls and stuff mushrooms tofu In tomatoes sauce and hot and sour soup with bamboo shoots and mushrooms. Probably Iโ€™ll bake some pumpkin pie for us as dessert. ๐Ÿค”

I hope you have a great time with your mom. ๐Ÿค— Iโ€™m sure your baby sheep ๐Ÿ‘ will get some bean sprouts as their treat as well. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ’šAs for us we are going to do it small within family this year. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Itโ€™s true, the whole life of a farmed animal is a nightmare for them. Itโ€™s why, at the age of 9, I decided I no longer wanted to be responsible for that, and I became a vegetarian. ๐Ÿ˜ž

in reply to HungryHufflepuff

Thatโ€™s a brilliant and thoughtful decision to make at such young age H. and Iโ€™m so glad you made it so now we are so proud to have you here as part of our VFL community that we shall continue to blossom on our vegan life journey. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’š

I donโ€™t think I was so aware or thoughtful when I was young. I donโ€™t remember thinking about animal welfare or the environment. When I was 9 we went with the school, to see where food comes from. We were taken to a chicken slaughter house. Some of the other children found it gross, or disgusting. I just found it unbearably sad seeing these chickens on a conveyer belt, in terror, aware of what was happening. In that moment I knew I didnโ€™t want to be a part of their suffering, I didnโ€™t want to contribute to this awful tragedy.

in reply to HungryHufflepuff

I think itโ€™s in your nature H. to decide such life changing experience at the age of 9 after a trip like that as how many schoolmates decided to be vegetarians after that? When children can be surrounded with animals, nature, soon enough they will create a bond and understand animals more. Schools should include more of these activities than just computer works. Thereโ€™s intellect versus intelligence and intelligence is what create a more well rounded and equipped individuals into adult life.

I started much later on than you but Iโ€™m catching up with you and all our vegan friends. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

Sadly only 2 schoolmates said they wouldnโ€™t eat animals after that experience, and a few days later they were eating meat. I remember saying to them, but you said you wouldnโ€™t eat animals anymore. And they said, oh weโ€™ve got over that now. It seems most everyone else did just see those chickens as food, whereas I saw them as living beings, suffering the most atrocious cruelty. A few saw it as gross, because of the blood. For me, itโ€™s an experience thatโ€™s never left me, it was overwhelmingly sad.

in reply to HungryHufflepuff

I think it has a lot to do with how supportive the family and culture also. At that age, children are more dependent on parents whichever they will agree or able to feed them also. Like me, I was too being overprotective by my family to make any decision on my own.

Itโ€™s quite horrific to just listen to just the sound of chickens make right before they know they are about to get slaughtered. Until this day, I still cover my eyes at any movies scene that involved animals abused and slaughtered, let alone in person witnessing like you did. Iโ€™m so sorry you had to witness that at young age but that was the moment you made a great change for yourself and all living things on this planet. ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ’š

This is an important post๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ™. You are right, we have to demand our governments to subsidize only healthy foods for ourselves and the environment... There is a need of progressive environmental policies now. Unfortunately, a lot of the power to change is in the hands of mediocre politicians, motivated by dark money.

Thank you Zazen for sharing your thoughts on this topic! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ™

If they say itโ€™s the people choice so what choice do we make right? If each individual can be the leader of our own action and choices then I donโ€™t see the need for any of that so called authorities to decide people lives when they canโ€™t even budget into something so fundamental as fruits and veggies which sure is a healthier, wholesome assistance. Hence, future generations will suffer of this wrong doing so change is much needed as we are trying to spread awareness and doing our parts. ๐Ÿ˜Š
