Hello, my girlfriend has received confirmation since 2019 that she has uveitis and she also uses all the medication from her ophthalmologist. I wanted to ask if someone also treats it in a natural way or so that she could stop the medication and treat it naturally with, for example, DMSO, tyrosol, turmeric, luteolin, is there anyone who has experience with it

Is your girlfriend being treated with steroids?

Not wishing to sound harsh, but do you really want her to lose her vision? I am aware of the desire in Germany to do everything "naturally" - I used to live there - but sometimes you need mainstream medicine to avoid very severe results. Use them in addition to the medication, maybe she will need less or have better results. But please don't take that risk because there is no way back from irreversible damage to the eyes.

Okay, thank you, but do you know what else she could use?

I don't I'm afraid - it really is something that you need qualified expert advice, My experience in Germany was that most doctor were willing to consider adjuvant use of other things that might result in lower use of prescription medications. But the inflammation in uveitis is sight-threatening - not to be messed with,

I'm also German and aware of the love affair with alternative therapies and that's fine but as already mentioned it should not mean avoiding prescription medication that could prevent irreversible damage.

Also, if there was any scientific evidence that turmeric could cure autoimmune conditions then we'd all be chucking it down our necks, and we're not, because it doesn't.

Some of the alternatives may reduce the inflammation but the evidence suggests you would need very large amounts. It is safer to do this with measured amounts of conventional medicines.

I developed uveitis after having COVID 18 months ago , was treated with antibiotics and eye drops and after a few weeks it cleared and had not returned. So for me medication worked can't comment on herbal treatment as no experience

Uveitis was one of the early indicators of my GPA. After a couple of months of steroidal (pred) eye drops the uveitis cleared up.

good morning my first symptom with GPA was uveitis, which is common and gone every time I have a flareup. I’ve been to several ophthalmologist who have treated me with the same steroid eyedrops, which had been very effective in treating the uveitis I have not tried any natural remedies. The UVI is always has the same symptoms, headache, severe eye pain for several days, which use resolves quickly after the steroid eyedrops. Good luck to your girlfriend, and I hope her uveitis continues to improve with treatment.
