How long before methotexrate 'kicks-in'?

I have been taking MTX for past 17 weeks ( last 2 weeks by injection) for treatment of uveitis. But I see no change in the inflammation and the recent FFA reveals that the inflammation is active . Do I need to wait more or will the rhumetalogist add another DMARD ( or even biologicals ) to speed up the treatment?

Methotrexate may take up to six months to show its optimal benefits. You will have to talk to your rheumatologist about it. Corticosteroids are sometime given in the interim.

Thanks . I'm on a low tapered dose of steroids and the opthalmologist has offered a suggestion of taking an ozurdex implant ( the second in left eye ) during this waiting period for MTX to do its job

An ozurdex implant is a good way of getting the steroids. It sounds like you are being looked after well.

Yes. I do have an experienced opthalmologist. My issue is with the waiting period of methotexrate. If you have had it, after how long did it start working for you?
