What would you do?

Hi all

As most of us know waiting for an appointment can be a long process especially when waiting to see the right consultant

But it's been like two buses coming at once this week. I have an appointment offered at St Thomas's and also at Addenbrooks.

My consultant at my local hospital first said leave the appointment at St Thomas's as felt I had been put in the wrong department for my condition. I cancelled but a couple of weeks later they called saying they would still like to see me

In that time my consultant had wrote to Addenbrooks and one of the doctors called me last week to say he would like to meet me

My family are saying go to both as having this condition since 2015 I need some answers and help to move forward with the right treatment.

Am I wrong to go to both appointments?

Go to both! I go to my local hospital and to Addenbrookes, who are used to sharing care with other hospitals. It may be that you won't need to go to Addenbrookes often, and St Thomas's will help you. But Addenbrookes is the best place for Vasculitis and the doctors advise other hospitals by phone. If they've seen you they will know more about you.

Addenbrookes do all my main treatment, and my local hospital have been brilliant at sorting out some of the investigations, physio, etc. Saves me traveling.

Good luck.

If they want to see you - go. I would. It is possible they want to learn from you - especially as they called you back after you cancelled.

Have been treated at both Guys which is part of St Thomas' and Addenbrookes I would definitely go for addenbrooks. Postpone your London appointment. It will keep the door open incase you want to go there later. Call the vasculitis helpline and Check you have been referred you to the correct consultant. at Addenbrookes. Hope this is helpful.
