Vasculitis
It was Wegener's Granulomatosis and it's now Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis or GPA
I am familiar with two types of vasculitis which are ANCA+: WPA/GPA-Wegeners or Granulomatosis with polyangiitis, and MPA-Microscopic Polyangiitis (my diagnosis). This whole thing has been an education for me. Most of the time I feel the dr's don't know that much about it, which doen't help. Luckily I have a good Rheumatoligist.
I believe there are 3 different forms of ANCA associated vasculitis. See vasculitis.org.uk/about-vas...
Hi Glenville. There are 3 types of vasculitis associated with ANCA and Wegeners is one of them; now called GPA as per emails below. It's good your consultant is supporting you with tests etc. I do know biopsies are not always conclusive, the same as 10% of people with GPA, me included, are ANCA negative. I'm not sure if you already do but my consultant finds my diary notebook useful as well as the photos of rashes; it was easier than me trying to describe or even remember any of it when at my appointments. I also note how I am if not great, why, signs and symptoms etc, as vasculitis has to be looked at as a whole picture and not just outcomes of biopsies and/or bloods. I hope things go well for you.
Thank you Maria58 and the best to you
