People have different medications but for my husband, it was the fourth and most brilliant choice.

No, nothing is mandatory!

There are over 18 different Vasculitis variants, Rituximab is an excellent treatment for some of them especially ANCA associated Vasculitis.

Have you discussed treatments with your Consultant?

I start Rituximab on Monday. Apprehensive to say the least. Then again, most of these types of drugs have a lot of potential side effects ...

Rituximab has been very successful for me and I am not aware of side effects. After a year on Cyclophosphamide which made me feel awful, my condition was in some degree of remission but then relapsed completely. The Rituximab was a great relief and I have been so much better since on it. At worst I feel tired for a few days after the infusion but that soon passes and then it is onward and upward. I have great confidence in the consultants at Addenbrookes where I am treated. I know that this disease cannot be cured but it can usually be improved and certainly I seized the offer of Rituximab and have not regretted it.

Dear YOSELIN1006,

You asked a 'Straight' question, so I will give you an equally Straight answer, NO. I have never been on Rituximab, despite having had Vasculitis for nearly twenty years. I had a Kidney Transplant, in July 2013, after four years on dialysis. According to the 'Literature' Rituximab is a drug that can be very helpful, to some people, whilst others have 'Rather Bad' reactions. (This is also true of many of this type, of drug). I, and indeed others have commented before, on these very issues. Basically with all the drugs, now available, if one 'combination' doesn't work/gives a bad reaction another should be available. So long as you have a good Consultant/Doctor 'looking after' you, you should be OK. You don't say where you live, so I can't be more specific that this, sorry.

Please do let us all know, how you Progress. Kindest wishes, from us all.

Thank you so much for your good wishes and for taking tha time to reply i line in bronx Ny its just scary honestly you just ask your self so many questions because i havent seen a reumatologist yet my appoiment is for june 21 i wish everything goes fine praying so much to god for me and everyone else that has this. Am not really shore yet what it is that i have it all started with a rash the dermatologist said it was urticariathen they did a biopsy and results where vasculitis leukocytoclastic so they did more blood work and it came back P Anca positive. Then i went to my doctor he said that it was just the border line because the normal anca results should be 21 mines was 23.89 he said that it could even be an error in the test but am still concerned i dont have any symptoms only the sinusitis but i have had this for years and back pain but this started with my first pregnancy 9 years ago. But anxiously waiting for my reumatologist app hoping to got that everything comes back fine. What tipe of vasculitis you have and by the way its good to know that your good specially so many years with this god is good.
