Keep getting missed heart beats when trying to sleep also weakness in chest and upper body, almost like lating down weakens my breathing muscles. Last night i felt like a gush from my groin area going up into my chest, i feared a had busrt a blood vessel. I also expereince missed beats when i change position from sitting to standing or when i am curled up in bed. Dr sent me for chest xray which was clear.
Any thoughts please
Thanks

I have been having these missed beats for couple of years, I've been told they are ectopic beats and nothing to worry about, which is easier said than done. I have had a few 24hour ECGs and a 7 day one and nothing more sinister showed up. Mine also tend to happen when I am lying down and I feel like my whole body jolts they are so strong, it normally happens when I am on my back and turning to my right side helps, I also get them when I am sitting and leaning backwards so my back is past a 90 degree angle to my legs. I often get a fluttering feeling afterwards as if my heart is trying to get back to a normal rhythm. I have been told its unrelated to anything autoimmune and probably caused by stress and too much caffeine but I don't agree as they happen if anything when I am relaxed and on the verge of sleep. I have nerve involvement too and get lots of jolts in my arms and legs too which all started around the same time.
What medication do you take, and what type of vasculitis do you have?
I do think as they have been going on for so long in my case I tend not to worry so much now, but I do understand how scary they are.
Hi Jennt, i dont have a vasculitis diagnosis....lots of symptoms but dont know the cause ..i do have fibromyalgia or so they say and Hashimotos.
My story is verymuch like yours and like you iv had heart monitot tests showing irregular heart beats no medics not concerned. Like you said my body also jolts and its pretty scary,im convinced its related to the postion my bodys in at the time. I also have nerve damage but not from vasculitis, its from cervical and lumber spin condition.
I hope you find some releif from it, even though it may not be serious its very unpleasent.

I think some conditions are so complex especially when there is an overlap of different conditions it often takes a long time to get to a definitive diagnosis. Sometimes not until other symptoms emerge then doctors can get the bigger picture of what exactly is going on. My strange heartbeats I am sure are not stress related, I have been extremely stressed many times in my life and never experienced them, only since I have been ill and had nerve involvement have they happened. Lets hope we both get to the bottom of it and I wish you all the best in finding some answers.
Hello, Yorkshire girl, I have pmd you. Your heart problems are actually the result of hashimotos or graves , mostly happens at night. With autoimmune , which as you no is complex antibodies attack your system , including organs, muscles, bones, veins. Ect. Although some patients actually don't show antibodies on blood test, this does not necessarily mean patients don't have autoimmune. The autoimmune disease if not treated or root cause isn't established, patients will continue to get another autoimmune and the case gets more complex. You may ask , how do I stop the attack? Well find the cause of your inflammation, with me, wheat, gluten was a major issue.
