Does anyone else Get build ups and discharges?

Sometimes i will be watching tv or waking outside and one ear will get tv static noise for a few seconds. Then it will go off in a big ping which then will fade down over a few seconds.

Its as if it builds up and then discharges that energy.

Thanks

Kyle

yes that’s one of my tinnitus sounds! Sometimes it happens daily, sometimes monthly, then it goes. I’ve had this for many many years.

Like an old fashioned flash gun recharging itself. Yep, I get that - only ever ringing tinnitus though - my other T sounds are unaffected and are there anyway.

Yep, well, it's the wonderful, whacky (not) World of Tinnitus - we're all different but there's plenty of commonality to our symptoms and experiences.

Sadly, that's why there is no magic bullet - we have to find what works for OUR Tinnitus and our lives. That's where this place comes in handy. X

I’ve had this kind of tinnitus probably all of my life. This is low level tinnitus as it comes and goes and doesn’t really intrude. You’ll probably get used to it.

hey! I understand these to be called ‘Spikes’ and are an entirely normal part of having tinnitus. Like others, mine can last anywhere between 5-30 seconds.

Umm, not really Disko - we speak of Spikes being episodes where the T sounds become seemingly much louder and harder than their usual levels. From general chat here and elsewhere Spikes can last a few hours to a few days and are a very difficult time for all concerned.

ahah! definition of spikes!

For me, a spike is :

: when I’m unwell (like a tummy upset or a cold - and the T is perceived to be louder than normal.

And

: when I get a sudden extra noise, that goes away.

But that’s just me, over the past 50 years.
