Hello Cat-Mother

I do hope you manage to see the programme on Friday 2nd February. Just to clarify, it’s called Dr Xand Con or Cure. As sds111 said it’s part of another programme. I live in the South part of England and according to my tv listings it starts at 10.45 am, but it may be different in your area. Also, if you miss the programme on Friday you can always view it on the BBC i player from Friday onwards . I hope this helps. Best wishes.

Thank you Choralmusic, found it.

It would have helped if I had been looking for 10.45 am instead of pm!

I will put it down to my T making me blind 😉😂

Hello everyone

I’ve just watched the tinnitus slot con or cure today, which was on BBC1 10.45am.

It was an interesting watch, but sadly, as expected there is no cure for tinnitus. What I got out of it was you have to try and manage the best way you can, don’t sit in silence, have the telly on or some music. I think distraction is your friend. I know it’s easier said than done and as I write this I wish I could follow my own advice! The programme mentioned hearing loss was one cause of tinnitus and wearing a hearing aid may help, I appreciate this may not help everyone. The programme also touched on masking the sound as well, may be a device over the ear with some sound to distract you. There was a young girl on there who has suffered from tinnitus from an early age, she tried all sorts of remedies and treatments but nothing has worked. Like a lot of the lovely people on this site she talked a lot of sense. Hard as it is I think I have to accept that I have got tinnitus and just try and manage it the best way I can. For me the more I focus on it the worse it is.

I am just waiting for an audiology appointment and ENT appointment to come through.

Best wishes to everyone and fingers crossed for a cure in the future.
