Some of you will have come across the ENT surgeon Vik Veer. He is not a T specialist but, so far as I can tell, he is a very nice and entirely sincere doctor who usually makes videos about his areas of professional interest. Some time ago he reported on his own experience of T, and how he dealt with it. I have mentioned that here previously. His method would not work for everyone - nothing does - but I think that many would find it useful - if only in giving hope.
I notice that he has just released a follow up, dealing with his experience / progress since the last.
Interesting, thanks for posting. Goes a little further in explaining how he 'cured his tinnitus', than the first video. Looking forward to watching the next one he mentions.
Thanks perlcoder Interesting. I haven't watched his original video but I'd question whether he's had troublesome T . The problem is 12% of people have T but only 1-2% of those people are troubled by it. Why? Do some people have a worse reaction or do some people have worse T? I don't want to be negative. Just realistic. Dealing with T is not the same as dealing with troublesome T. I know from experience.
Entirely agreed. That was my instinctive response to the first video, but, for his other work, I had a great deal of respect for his honesty and good intentions, so I was and am sure that he is not just saying he is a sufferer as, notoriously, some who do specialise in the field have done.
My experience over the years, of moderate T worsening, is the same as yours - as that of many of us. I treat his videos as yet more evidence for my fundamental belief that personality type and life events unconnected with T, are of central importance,
I hope I wasn't too negative .. He comes across as very sincere. I totally believe he has experienced T and dealt with it very well. His advice would be helpful to anyone with T . I'm just frustrated there's only one word for T. What he describes isn't what I experience. That doesn't mean it 's not valid for him and many other people.
Oh gosh no - I didn't get an impression of negativity at all.
There would be no point in posting these things without inviting analysis. I remember when mine began that the ENT I consulted said that he had mild T (may well also have been true), but I also read that it is a common therapeutic tactic amongst professionals to tell that fib.
If ever it can be done, disentangling T from the personality of the sufferer will be quite the achievement.
Oh, that's interesting about the ENT saying they have tinnitus too. Mine said that as well. I thought it was a little odd as she was so young. Didn't think any more of it though. But maybe it helps with the empathy
Hi - thank you for this, i watched his first video when i started getting T in September last year and it helped me to know that someone had a positive story than the general doom that abounds on the internet, whether his T was mild or not doesn't worry me as i struggle with all levels of T.
It was a video that was helpful to me!!! Am sorry if that offends you, my level of T may not be the same volume as someone else's but that doesnt mean we cant benefit from a positive story. He has spent time making a vlog in order to share his own experience and i found that very helpful personally.
It is all relative, even quiet T can be very upsetting...and serious to the person with it.
