Hi everyone, my Nan had her ears syringe at the doctors and from that point on she has suffered with tinnitus. I have taken her to the doctors and to hospital but there seems to be no treatment for this I hate seeing my Nan in pain and not understanding what’s going on. I have been clutching at straws so I recently came across a story about a treatment called CORTEXI and wondered if anybody has come across it and used it or is it just another moneymaking scam I will be interested to hear what peoples thoughts are. Many thanks.

you are wise to do research on behalf of your Nan, and even wiser to come here for help! Cortexi has been mentioned here several times over the years, so I suppose they advertise a lot. Don’t believe any ads you see promoting a “cure” - there isnt one! Some docs can be very dismissive as they know there is no cure, only ways to alleviate.
Your research might have brought up Tinnitus UK, which is the best site to give help. You can read what they say about Cortexi.
Hi, sorry to hear about your nan. All I can say is, my friend’s father had his ears syringed and he suffered from tinnitus for around 6 months and then it went away. Tinnitus UK is a great place to find coping strategies for her. Wishing her all the best.
Hello. Your Nan might benefit from a hearing test and hearing aids. All this can be done on the NHS - usually via Specsavers or Audiology at your local hospital.
Years ago I had odd tinnitus which was directly caused by ear wax against the ear drum on the left. The syringing, I believe, left my ear very sensitive as my brain was used to restricted hearing on that side and had been compensating. I then suffered from a different tinnitus in that ear but this gradually reduced over several weeks.
Hopefully your nan will also find her body has compensated for the restricted hearing and will get back to normal over a few weeks.
