Just wanted to ask how you cope living with bppv ? I have had it a long time but only mildly had episodes of balance and dizziness just today I had sudden dizzy spell just by taking washing out of the dryer turning my head I came really dizzy I managed to hold on to the kitchen work surface till it passed in a minute or 2 I was given exercises to do which I rarely do so would like to hear from others if they regularly do exercises .

oh how I sympathise! The last time I got a bad bout was just from going up and down in the dentist’s chair. The dentist got me to have a drink of water and a glucose tablet and I walked home and had a rest.

mostly I know how to avoid bppv but sometimes I wake up with it and take chlorpromazine, I think that’s how you spell it, which is prescribed and I get a fresh prescription once every two years or so.

I did the exercises but they were not enough. I then had the Eply procedure which worked well. But I got worse again (even with the exercises) and had Eply again. After a couple of years I had Eply for the third time, and again it worked and I avent even done the exercises since.

Have you had the Eply?

I thought, as you know about the exercises for BPPV, you’d come across Eply. If you go to utube there are several videos showing how it’s done. Usually it’s done by a health professional of some sort, either a doc or physio or a nurse who’s been trained, though it is possible to do it at home with someone helping you.

The Epley Manoeuvre is, as Rosie says, an exercise designed to help people experiencing Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, a condition of which tinnitus can be a symptom. It isn't intended to treat tinnitus but to help with sensations of vertigo.
