Hey I’ve lived with Pulsatile Tinnitus for a few years now. Just recently over the last 6 months or so it was getting increasingly worse. To the point I had a full on emotional breakdown last week I couldn’t fathom having to live another hour like this.
I started researching self help as I’m awaiting a CT scan this week (21 July 2023). I downloaded an an app called oto and ordered myself some bone conduction headphones (the cheapest version I could find via Shokz). Thanks to other posters here as it’s your experiences that led me to this.
Anyway it’s been less than a week and by listening to brown noise (super deep is what masks it for me) at night and throughout the day with my headphones and using the oto app for the coaching / CBT elements I’m already finding some relief. Oto also does guided sleep meditation etc and at the same time allows you to play your masking sound (which I don’t find in my usual apps like Calm etc.)
Of course it’s early days but I wanted to shared for anyone who is feeling at a crisis point with it. Sound therapy seems to be helping and until I have my scan (and hopefully identify the cause and resolve), though if there is no resolution which I know is entirely possible I can see a way I can learn to live with this at least.
If you’re at crisis please please know there’s hope, it’ll take some work and won’t happen overnight but there IS hope x
