Hello Ethel.

Pregabalin is often prescribed in the treatment of epilepsy and anxiety, per the NHS' guide to the medication - nhs.uk/medicines/pregabalin/

Reducing anxiety and stress can be helpful in managing tinnitus - perhaps this is why your GP has suggested this medication?

With best wishes

Pat

I've been on Pregablin for years and it does help with anxiety. Unfortunately it isn't the cure for tinnitus.

Pregabalin is okay for some people but it does have unpleasant withdrawal effects if you don't take it on time or try to discontinue it. It is a drug which can be liable to misuse as it can induce feelings of elation. It is an anticonvulsant medication and it is being used off licence for anxiety and in pain clinics for part relief. Personally I wouldn't take it but know people who swear by it

Hi Ethel. I was offered pregabalin as pain relief for CFS/ME over a decade ago. I took it for two weeks but didn't feel myself at all so I gave it up.

I’ve been on it months for nerve pain. It helps but doesn’t effect tinnitus.

Thankyou but actually I haven't got anxiety so I've decided not to take it till I can speak to my gp.It was prescribed by a locum.
