MRI scans for Pulsatile Tinnitus

Hello I have been getting Pulsatile tinnitus since the summer which came on not long after I had had my ear syringed.

I got referred back to my GP who sent me for an MRI scan to check for anything serious. My Gp then said the results were abnormal which could be due to an MRI error, a benign tumour or something else. So had to go for another MRI with contrast and now just waiting the results.

Unfortunately it’s hard not to think the worst and it’s a tumour. but strange because I have not had any other symptoms such as hearing loss, dizziness or headaches.

From what you read on Pulsatile tinnitus it’s only rarely due to a tumour.

Can anyone else advise if there own diagnosis of Pulsatile tinnitus or has anyone else been advised of abnormal scans before?

I had a CT scan for my tinnitus but all normal. I can still hear my heart a lot of the time. I have just had a pacemaker fitted and I know I can’t hear that working but the thumps continue

Hi,

Try not to worry too much. My MRI showed up a brain tumour & I then had to have the contrast dye - it came back benign so I just have to now go back for yearly scans to check the growth of it. It was an incidental finding as they refer to it when there’s no other symptoms causing it, certainly not caused by the Tinnitus they tell me. Good luck for your results.

Hi! I also have Pulsatile Tinnitus which started in February last year. After o.k. MRI and CT scans it was found that after an Ultra Sound, I had a tortuous blood vessel in my neck which occurred after high intensity wood cutting. Sounds weird but that is how it was. Coping with pillow speakers and Shokz headphones during the day. They are great at masking the PT while playing music from your phone through your cheekbones. Keep posting as there are obviously not so many with actual PT.
