Tonight my heart is pounding in my ear. I have tried deep breathing to no avail. Sitting in a chair because laying down doesn’t help.
Anyone have any ideas how to quieten it.

Hylda2 have you spoken to your doctor about it? Maybe a beta-blocker could help. But you need to find if there isn't any other cause first.I have it too, but mine is mild, but I find that when it's rainny weather it gets worst.
I hope yours settle down. 🙏💕
I already take beta blockers for my heart thanks. Have also had a Ct scan recently to check head. Think I was over tired last night and just seemed on top of me, but thank you so much for replying
I have something like this. It's mild - as in not all the time; but if I sit, stand, lay down or turn over, bend/lean...that's what triggers it. I don't have a Dr diagnosis, I'm just in the beginning of addressing this. Its been going on since I had covid July '21
Is the sound that you are hearing synchronized with your pulse rate ? If so, that affirms Pulsatile tinnitus. This is a rarer form of tinnitus and is often mixed up with regular tinnitus. Unlike regular tinnitus, it needs a thorough medical work-up to see if the cause can be found; if so, then it can usually be corrected. The go-to, website is Whoosher.Com. A lot of Brits are members.
The workup for Pulsatile Tinnitus ( PT) is much more thorough than just a single image of your brain and must include blood tests, more imaging, etc. done by a medical provider who is competent enough to assess PT. Since, unlike regular tinnitus, you hear an actual internal sound - the turbulence of your own blood flow, and in 75- 90 % of cases, the cause can be found and often corrected.
I suffer from AF so think that has a lot to do with it
I have had PT for over two years, I had a scan and was sent away saying no more to be done! I have mentioned it to the doctor on several occasions but they haven’t looked into it further, doctors are so strapped for time and resources this comes bottom of their list.
Do you have it permanently or only when you are stressed or tired
I generally have it at night time, especially when I m over tired. Occasionally in the day possibly when stressed.
Actually when you have had an episode it’s quite nice to here your heart beating in normal rhythm. The rest of the time I can block my ordinary tinnitus out with my hearing aids
I only wish I knew. I took a drug called Flecainide which had odd side effects
