High frequency pulsing tinnitus affected by outside noise sources

After years of regular tinnitus I now have pulsative tinnitus which is in the form of any high frequency sound (like traffic/ kettle boiling, wind etc) pulses in my right ear rather than being clear. Its always there but made worse by outside sounds which is tricky as I use a fan to help sleep and cover up the tonal tinnitus which has got better over the years but it adds now to the pulsing! Anyone had similar and have any suggestions of what to do to help? Have seen ENT and had all hearing tests done with no issues at all come up.

Pulsatile tinnitus can be confirmed by counting your pulse rate. If your "whoosh" is in sync with your rate, it is PT or pulsatile tinnitus. It is different from regular tinnitus and needs a workup by a specialist who is competent in this area. You have a few in the UK. The good thing about PT is that often a curable cause can be found. Have you determined that you have pulsatile tinnitus (PT) - by seeing if the sound is in sync with your pulse rate- or is this just a variant of regular tinnitus. PT would not be "affected by outside noise sources ".
