Relief and Quiet

I just wanted to update you with my progress. The T has been easing off gradually since the summer of this year. I have had a few bouts of days where it was there (not severe) but overall, all positive and mainly it is really hardly noticeable if at all. I really think that keeping a positive frame of mind and doing all the right things (sufficient sleep and rest, relaxation, nutrition, listening to nature sounds or white noise below the level of your T, and also for me I tried acupuncture plus I'm a hypnotherapist, all helped. I have had MRI scan and it came back as normal and have hearing aids courtesy of NHS. They are the new modern ones and they are fantastic. So, keep positive as one day there will be that cure that everyone wants. It might take time, years even, but some bright spark will invent something futuristic that will cancel out T noises.

It started out of the blue in January this year just before my 61st birthday. I have been fit and well but it really did worry me at first. I had horrible days and nights. I really felt like I couldn't go on and couldn't live with it. Slowly, slowly, I noticed that days went by and it had 'gone'. It sometimes came back and then quiet again. It has its own behaviour. It got a bit up and down during the covid jab period (March and June) then calmed down after a few weeks. it is now more manageable. I am so grateful. I pray and thank God for the gift of peace. It sometimes comes and is just annoying more than anything. It settles and it is then quiet for a few days or even a week. It then has a period of annoyance (mild) then settles. I am really grateful for the peace days. I think my brain will remember the peace days and these should happen more and more. I have hearing aids from NHS. They are new and the latest technologies. I have a mild to moderate hearing loss. Been to the dentist today and I don't clench nor grind and he checked me out so all is good. I hope everyone finds peace. It is there somewhere. You are unique and everyone will have a different story. Don't be put off my negative posts or scare monger posts. I just feed myself positive words and my brain is happier for it. Just know that science and technology is advancing all the time. Hope is there and one day there will be an answer to this problem. I read on a site that they refer to T as a Disease. I don't see it as a disease. Our bodies can heal and can adapt. You know that you can adapt in your own way. I listen to Classic FM on the radio in my car and sleep with the music at a low volume. I am also a hypnotherapist and have done some self hypnosis. I also do NLP and EMDR for trauma. I wish you all good luck and do keep up with positive posts.

Could you please explain how the acupuncture is progressing? Thanks

Pink6- profile image
Pink6- in reply to 1966366

Acupuncture - I had it on three occasions. I felt T go worse afterwards but did settle down after three weeks or so. I don't know if it was the acupuncture or whether it was a co-incidence. If you do want to try acupuncture, I suggest you find one that comes recommended.

Thanks for the reply. I tried it at the very beginning of T as a nurse friend recommended it, but did not think at the time that it was very good or likely to make a noticeable difference. Only recently have I reconsidered it.

It started out of the blue in January this year just before my 61st birthday. I have been fit and well but it really did worry me at first. I had horrible days and nights. I really felt like I couldn't go on and couldn't live with it.

I don't know what started it but I know how I felt the year before (lockdown 2020). I had a stressful period with a relationship and he and I split October that year. The T started in the January 2021. I was talking to a friend that night, I went to bed and it just started. I rushed to find out what was going on outside. It might have been a helicopter. It wasn't, it was coming from my head. I had 10 nights of no sleep and went on sleeping tablets. I was in a terrible state.

CBT is good as it helps to reframe the negative thoughts to more positive ones. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

That is very good to hear Pink6, we all need some positive news and I hope you continue to improve. Would you say that wearing hearing aids has been a part of you feeling better about tinnitus? I have read comments on this site saying they can make it worse and as I am due to have some myselfin the next 2 weeks I wanted to know what to expect.

All the best to you for a hopefully tinnitus free future.

Yes, as others have said, hearing aids can help. They are programmed with the hearing loss so the brain picks up the missing frequencies. I hope they help you.

Great to hear - if only there was as much motivation to cure tinnitus as there is to develop Covid 19 vaccinations

I think it is about funding and also clinical trails. There are some good pod casts on the subject. I listened to one on Sound Cloud. If you type in tinnitus that should bring some up!

Hi, I'm afraid I only read posts that sound positive, so yours was great. I tried acupuncture early on, it didn't help but I will try hypnotherapy at some point. As a hypnotherapist yourself, I'm sure a lot of us would like to hear your thoughts on how this might help.

Pink6- profile image
Pink6- in reply to woodman72

Yes, Hypnotherapy is great because it uses a part of the mind called the subconscious part of the mind. The subconscious mind has been programmed in a certain way. Some people have self limiting beliefs and these beliefs are born out of fear. If we can reprogramme the mind to believe something more positive and healthy then you will begin to think, feel and act differently. Hypnotherapy is a great tool to use for most symptoms and issues. Tinnitus is difficult to 'cure'. It can be helped by certain techniques. Lots of people have been helped by a technique using what we call Control Room of the Mind. You have the controls and you can turn down sensations that you don't want and turn up or increase healthier sensations such as peace and calm for example.

Hi pink6, I am pleased to hear that you have seen improvements in your tinnitus. Please can I ask how you went about getting your hearing aids and do you think they have helped?

Pink6- profile image
Pink6- in reply to SixtySix

Yes, I had them issued by the NHS. I have good quality and the latest technology ones. I think they help as they are programmed to my hearing loss. I have mild to moderate hearing loss. I hope you get yours from the NHS if you live in the UK. Let us know how you get on.
