Can lidocain cause tinnituse?

4 months ago I received 2 injections of lidocaine at the points between the neck and head. 3 days later I started having tinnitus in both ears. Is it related to lidocaine?

Think that’s definitely a question for your doctors 😊

As rabbits65 suggested, that's more of a medical question, although some people do experience tinnitus which emanates from problems with the spine, the neck and the jaw.

The distinguishing characteristic of this type of tinnitus is that the person experiencing it can induce changes in their sound by moving their neck, their jaw, etc.

This research article on our website gives an introduction to what is known as 'SomatoSensory Tinnitus' - tinnitus.org.uk/somatic-som...

Lidocaine itself can be used to suppress tinnitus, so it's unclear if it is as ototoxic as some parts of the internet suggest.

Hiya. That's what I read about it being positive. Sorry I think I've repeated that in my comment 😊

I would add to what’s been said already - whatever the cause of the T it might go away or it might not. and concentrating on the “why has this happened to me?” aspect just give the T the attention it loves to become more prominent. The more attention you give it the more prominent it seems to become.

I thought lidocaine helped reduce tinnitus. It's just a minefield isn't it? There could be many reasons for mine. Sudden deafness, menieres disease, shingles on my eardrum, anxiety because the Doctors thought I had a brain tumour ...... Covid..... yes I've had an awful 10 months. So for me - I'm just glad that I've managed to retain some level of hearing through all that (I never had a hearing issue prior to this - not one single infection).... I'm keeping a food diary, supplements log, symptoms log, sleep log. I'm on a facebook support group on FB. Tinnitus Success Stories - they are a good bunch.
