Update
Hi SarahLouise. This is normal waiting time. I was referred in Jan 21 and told not to expect to see anyone until Jan 22. At first I was upset but in many ways the wait has been a good thing. It's given me a chance to read up on hearing loss & T, talk to people on the forum & deal with my emotions. I hope the prescription eases the motion sickness & vertigo.
Well done for getting seen by someone! If the betahist. doesn’t help the vertigo - and it should - there are other medications. You’ve started your journey to habituate to the T. Do take notice of what the other posters have already said about how to cope with the T.
You can ask your GP to “ expedite the appointment “. I hope your medication helps you.
I was given Stemetil for dizzy spells
Hi Sarah
Betahistine 2 x 8 mgs (three times a day) works well for my husband.
He suffers from BVH (Bilateral Vestibular Hypofunction) and his balance was so bad that he bought himself a walker.
Since having his medication increased from 3 tablets to six a day he now only uses the walker when walking in the dark.
I hope you too have a good result with the medication and that you manage to get an ENT appointment sooner than you expect.
