I want to have the covid vaccine, but i've been hesitating because i've heard it could worsen Tinnitus.
I've had covid, it didn't affect my tinnitus. Infact, it probably helped because i was focused more on the covid symptoms than listening to my tinnitus.
I've more or less habituated to my T over the past few months, i've dealt with each spike and kept going optimistically. I try to keep my stress and anxiety levels down. So now I don't want to risk my progress but i also want to get the vaccine.
I guess i'm just looking for some reassurance from people who've had the vaccine.
Thanks.

Hello luluula. If you go,to the website of British tinnitus Association you’ll see all the most recent information that’s available on tinnitus, Covid and vaccinations.
Hi !! I totally understand!! I was terrified getting my vaccine !! All people will react differently so the only advise I can give you is do t look at what people say in online forums !! This will only frighten you !! Remember that any spike in your tinnitus will probably be short and just a temporary reaction to inflammation!! I had the Pfizer vaccine and had a 24 hour spike after the first dose and nothing after the second !! The spike could easily have been caused by my anxiety about the vaccine 😊The best of luck with whatever you choose to do !!!
I had both doses of the Pfizer vaccine in April and while it did make me feel a bit tired and I had aches and pains for a few days each time, I didn't feel it made my tinnitus feel any worse. I took paracetamol both times for the aches and pains. I hope that helps.🙂
Hi Luluula. Two vaccinations, no difference in my T. The same goes for my wife and my mum, who both experience T to some extent. Just some mild fatigue, although there are probably other reasons for that (*glances at 40,000 unit Vitamin D capsules to side of monitor*) 🤔
Thank you all for your kind responses...I feel a lot better about getting the vaccine now.. I'll stop thinking too much about it and just book an appointment! xx
2 jabs, no difference in my T. About eight hours after the first jab I experienced the oft-reported fatigue but no effect after the second. I think getting fully protected from this devastating virus is, perhaps, more important than other concerns.
If only there was a vaccine for tinnitus - here's hoping!
My experience with the COVID vaccine is not positive like the others, in fact I’m so hesitant about the second one because I’m terrified about making my T worse. It did spiked after the first one and stayed that way. However has someone else said you shouldn’t let negative experiences stopping you from protecting yourself. All the best
Hi 180C my T spiked and stayed that way after my first jab. After debating for so long I decided to have my second jab in July. The T increased again for the first few days, but then settled back to the level after having my first jab. Currently I’m having good weeks and bad one or bad days. Still thinking positively about getting habituated again and I think you should stay positive too. All the best Luna
I received my first dose of the phizer vaccine about three weeks ago and did not experience side effects for my Tinnitus but was a bit tired and had low energy level for about five days and will be getting my second shot in August. I would not mix vaccines even though some are getting a second vaccine that is different from the first. Best of luck.
I got my second AZ jab on 14th June. By the 18th I had shingles, and Tinnitus started on 23rd June and is still with me. It might all be a coincidence but it has put me right off the notion of a booster jab. I was fine with my first jab, aside from feeling a bit lousy the next day. My GP has prescribed me Amitriptyline for nerve pain and also to help me sleep. It seems to dampen the Tinnitus a bit. I am now worried my T will be with me for the rest of my days.
Sorry to say my Tinnitus spiked after 2nd Jab 0f Pfizer but my sister has Tinnitus & she was fine& I’m still suffering 3 months but also have recent cancer diagnosis so that could also have something to do with it. It’s personal choice but I would certainly look into it before you decide as I am finding the Tinnitus harder to deal with than the cancer . But then Covid is also a risk .
