Yesterday my T was quiet and I went to bed feeling good and relaxed. However today it is pulsing like mad. Is this the nature of the beast. And I am having some funny feeling in my ear like it is trying to tune in.

Hi nels. I often go to bed with quieter T and wake up with louder T. Just the way it is .

Hi nels. It sounds as if your T might resolve - from what you've said so far. Let's hope so. If it does continue you'll probably have good & bad days for a little while. Then it will probably settle with spikes from time to time. I'm in a spike at the moment . Staying calm is the key.

Thank you Doglover. Just had another funny feeling in my ear like it's clearing or refocusing of that makes sense.

That sounds like good news .. As if your ear is settling down again. I really hope you go free. Either way take good care of your ears.

Hi Eleanor. T has been spiking for about 10 days. Same sound but louder than usual. I've had T at this level before so I'm not unduly upset. It's just unpleasant. How are you?

Hello ,I’ve had tinnitus for 26 years but habituated to it slowly…..

8 weeks ago I had major surgery a total hysterectomy that turned out complicated and I was in surgery over 4 hours….

Fortunately everything was benign snd I got the results yesterday….

My tinnitus woke me up four weeks post op in my right ear and very loud….

It is four weeks since it started so I am trying to get used to it… I have had a horrendous year before my op with pain every day, visits to A and E and I am so glad it’s over,,,, so now I have to deal with the tinnitus,….

I’ve always worn plugs to parties etc…

Although an alarm ( with plugs in ) caught me out last week at tk max and I ended up panicking about it,,,..

My hormones are all over the place and I am on hrt patches.,.. I was put on them three weeks ago x

Aww. Sorry you've had such a tough time. I guess just as the body takes time to heal after an operation the T will take time to settle . I think if you've habituated before you'll be able to do it again. Even if the T is loud. Take good care of yourself.

Don't worry my love. A dog bark wouldn't be enough to damage your ear. My dog often barks but it's not affected my T at all. I know everything makes you jump when T is loud. It's natural to feel worried. Try to relax if you can. Not easy of course.

That's a good idea. T can make you so anxious. It makes me anxious. I do alot of deep breathing and relaxation exercises . Soft music. Old TV shows that make me laugh. Anything to calm the nerves.

How long do your spikes last x

My last spike lasted about three weeks. This one has been ten days so far. I expect it's different for everyone. You 've been thru alot and need to give yourself time to recover on all levels.

Hello nels. It seems that everyone senses the T in a different way. In your position I would be grateful that I had had a period of quiet - I’ve had T for sixty years.

I am the same - trouble is I can have a good day and think "this is it - it's going to get better" only to wake up next morning to rolling drums, marching music ( I suffer from musical ear syndrome) mine started after hearing loss with Labyrinthitis last December. I hardly hear a thing in my right ear but I do get strange sounds and morse code type noises. I have different garbled music 24/7 although there is a one piece of music that I find beautiful. I can't pick and choose though!! I am beginning to think that "acceptance" is the keyword. So frustrating. Hope your ears improve x

Hello Nels. Yes, unfortunately, that is the nature of the beast, I believe. For me, there is no discernable behavioural pattern to the condition. It picks the time to make your life difficult. :)) No harm, though! I know that it will get better.
