Hypnotherapy

Hi, as anyone tried Hypnotherapy to help them cope with the stress and anxiety caused by suffering with Tinnitus? I know it will not cure it, just thinking might help a bit to manage my Tinnitus, Thanks

We are great believers in relaxation as a way to manage your tinnitus well. Seen in that light, I would say that hypnotherapy is certainly worth considering as a way to help you relax - which is what our treatment guide would suggest:

"Current tinnitus management guidelines suggest the use of relaxation strategies to help manage tinnitus. Hypnotherapy may be considered as a way to improve relaxation".

Look at it from that perspective - it's certainly worth considering.

Hi Bantams. I've not tried anything yet. Still waiting for ENT .. If you try this will you let us know how you get on? I'd like to try anything that helps with anxiety. All the best.

Hi. I have had hypnotherapy to try and help with the anxiety caused by my pulsatile tinnitus and with the tinnitus itself. It hasn't changed the tinnitus, which I wouldn't really expect it to, but did help a bit with the anxiety. It certainly is a great relaxation therapy and if you can get the therapist to implant suggestions that your tinnitus will no longer cause you anxiety then that will hopefully help. My husband is now training to be a hypnotherapist so I'm hoping he will be able to help me further with the constant anxiety that my PT causes me. I would say definitely worth trying.
