Good morning John I personally am very wary about

medication .

Listen john. If you 're worried about taking any medication .. It might be best not to. You don't want to add to your anxiety in any way because anxiety can fuel tinnitus.

Hello John, sorry to hear you're having such a bad time, it's horrible I know can't sleep when it's so loud, I have trouble sleeping, when it low I'm ok, try using white noise if you can, put it under your pillow, buy one of the many noise machines, I have hearing aids now, they've helped me, ask to try them too, they do help block it out, better during the day, wishing you all good, Anne

It's ok. I know how you feel. I couldn't eat or sleep last Autumn. I took phenergan twice a week - just to stay sane. Remember .. it will pass. Even if it doesn't feel like it will at the moment. You'll get used to the noise and start to sleep again. Hang in there.

Morning John hope your feeling a bit better son!?I’ve had chronic insomnia for the past three years.Developed tinnitus in my left ear in 2016 then in my right ear a year past in January and they both took a large notch up.Its terrible and I totally understand your frustration and situation! I do feel when properly relaxed it does ease tremendously though but as you know it’s getting to that relaxed state that’s very difficult! Been given 7.5mg courses zopiclone twice and I am lucky I get two hours sleep on them.Works for others I’m told but certainly not for me.Last course I took was out of desperation about 5 weeks ago and on the second last night my right ear changed again to a pulsating tinnitus.Doctor told me it’s anxiety then four days after finishing the course it goes away.Well for me I know what my opinion is!?

I’ve had thyroid medication issues past couple of years and I’m starting to make a connection.I have also cervical spondylosis that I do honestly think is part of the problem of my insomnia and tinnitus too

Been given three different types of anti-depressants over the past year and they didn’t work either.I am feeling far better of them all and after putting my own thyroid medication up through advice from on here. This place has been a life safer for me and the people are tremendous!

John I apologise for this being so long but I honestly am just trying to be genuine and hopefully helpful!

Tinnitus insomnia anxiety depression tension high blood pressure (just those alone with neck and muscle tension and hearing) diet and stomach issues and the multitude of other symptoms that can develop are all related

John old boy (scheme talk) this is very long pal so I’m going to stop there and will throw up some things I’ve came across and self help I’ve stared later if it can be of any help. What I’ve came across in the past year and self help I’ve started lately has been of great help but it’s just finding your own jigsaw

Take care for now and stay safe!

I’ve used zopiclone when it gets intolerable but I can’t say it’s made the tinnitus worse. If anything, a good nights sleep makes it easier to deal with. I’ve backed off it now and maybe use it once every week or less. I’ve been trialling hearing aids and those have helped as my tinnitus is very high frequency and very loud and may be associated with a bit of high frequency hearing loss - the brain (being dopey) trying to compensate. A tinnitus specialist also advised me (a bit of CBT) not to push the tinnitus away and don’t get scared of it, but to accept it as an unwelcome guest, but a guest nevertheless. Weirdly that little bit of advice helped too.

Hi John

I'm taking zopiclone and I don't think it worsens or improves T. It helps with sleeping better. My GP recommended not to take it daily tho. Every other night if required. Don't beat yourself up if you don't get sleep, as relaxation will act like sleep.

I find if I relax in the evening whatever way. Then take a tablet an hour or so before I plan to sleep it helps.

I find if anxiety is high then I notice T more and more, so you need to find something that helps take your mind off it. It may feel like it's never going to be better but it will be.

This is new to me as well as you know but I have noticed little improvents in positive thinking. Hope it eases soon for you 👍

Hi 777john - Zopiclone 7.5mg is fine. But I would not recommend you take them for more than a month ideally - as you become dependent on them (or can do, which messes up with the Gamma in the brain). I took them for 30 days then forced myself off them completely. This was hard for the first week (in terms of trying to fall asleep). Use a Fan & play with the speed settings that is what I use. It depends on what has triggered your Tinnitus, there is always a symptom. That symptom needs to be cured/corrected for the Tinnitus to go.

Hi John. I am not an expert, but it is apparent that you are experiencing a high level of anxiety which is fueling your inability to sleep. I would suggest that you see your GP for advice to treat your anxiety. The success I have had in lessening my tinnitus has been a direct result of the strategies used to lessen my anxiety. I was dependent on Zopoclone 7.5 for some time. I forgot to bring this medication on a trip to see my daughter and was forced to quit cold turkey. It was a small but important victory for me.
