Humming in ear after wax removal

Hi 2 days ago I had a big lump of wax removed from my only good ear. I am completely deaf in right ear. The machine was in there less than 30 seconds and it came out easily. However I am now left with constant humming in my ear. Its only been 2 days will it settle? Please help there is no peace. This is how big it was

Not a bad haul!! Your brain has got a lot to get used to, from hearing almost nothing to suddenly having sounds of the real world thrown at it. I’ve a feeling your Tinnitus will settle once your brain has got used to these extra sounds. Your ear has a tiny tiny muscle in it which causes the passage down which the sound goes to expand, and it takes several hours to return to normal.

Have you browsed the British Tinnitus Association website for ideas?

Thank you yes ive looked on that website. Good point re brain having to get used to sounds again. However I had this done four days ago surely would have sorted by now ?

I called the doctor that did it , I had it done privately as the hospital weren’t doing it cos of COVID.... I waited 2 weeks before I called, his answer was .. microsuction doesn,t cause tinnitus, I,m always getting calls from people saying they have been left with a whistle in their ear after it’s been done !! That says it all to me 🤷‍♀️.. I get good days and bad days, I think I am learning to ignore it more now, been 4 months now..

Like me also at Specsavers. I went back to them and they weren't interested. 3 months now. Really fed up.

Bloody worried as well. Did u sign their disclaimer ? Is yours really loud ?

Yes I am very worried and stressed. Yes, I stupidly signed the disclaimer and I was so desperate to get rid of the wax that I am ashamed and embarrassed to admit I didn't read it properly. I really think the risky should be made more clear when you go.

Hi... I would never recommend micro suction to anyone.... but my earwax was so bad in my left ear, it had to be done, it took him 15 minutes to clear it, been whistling ever since 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Wow 15 mins poor you did u use olive oil before? Thing is you had to have it taken out. Mine took under 20 seconds thats why bloke who did it said it cant have caused the T. But he would say that

I used Olive Oil for nearly 2 weeks prior and the wax was soft . Like you it must have been under 20 seconds. It's the noise of the suction that causes the tinnitus, but for such a short length of time and it was only the last bit that got loud, you would think the tinnitus would be temporary. I pray that mine is.

Hi .. it’s 4 months since mine was done, no let up yet, but I think I am slowly ignoring it .. 😊

Yes I did,it was so clogged and I was deaf ,my own doctor wouldn,t see me cos of COVID, in desperation I went to a&e to get it confirmed it was wax, doctor said I,ll book you in for microsuction, the next day they phoned to say they weren’t doing it for 3 months, again due to COVID, and gave me the number of a private doctor to do it, so had it done a couple of days later, .... it had to be done, but now left with this damn noise in my ear...🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
