Horrendous Tinnitus

Really bad in the evenings seems to spike at the same time for no apparent reason, sleeping is proving difficult, nytol doesn’t seem to work. I also suffer with hyperacusis so using headphones for sound therapy might be good for the tinnitus but not so good for the hyperacusis. Any positive thoughts greatly appreciated.

Try being Totally Deaf and Tinnitus, balance issues, Abcess on Brain 3 times, latest couple months ago, then you can all moan.

It ain’t easy.

That sounds very tough for you. I am sorry. Other people have their own struggles too. We need to be compassionate with one another 🙏🏼

Hi catman68 ,

I'm sorry to hear you're struggling, especially with hyperacusis as well. We do know that it's really important to 'treat' the hyperacusis first as the tinnitus tends to settle down if you do. If you haven't had any help with the hyperacusis I would encourage you to push for a referral to audiology (I know it's easier said than done in the current climate). They should offer you therapy for the hyperacusis. There's a bit more information about hyperacusis in general here: tinnitus.org.uk/hyperacusis

You'll also find people on this forum who have hyperacusis and tinnitus and are able to manage it now so hopefully they can give you some encouragement. With the right support you will get through this!

Diazepam and tinnitus sound therapy free on YouTube. Nytol isn’t very good in my opinion. Ask your doctor about the dpam.

Good luck
