Hi . just wondering which type of tinnitus do we all have ? their is a lot of different sounds ,mine is high pitched ,sometimes its pulsatile and i only have it in my left ear. It started around 5 weeks ago ,sometimes its really quiet other times its so loud ,but this is the strangest of all it completely stops at night which i am hugely grateful for . i have worn ear plugs all my life cuz of hubby being a loud snorer . I have had a MRI to rule out anything nasty all came back clear .x also i have just had hearing test and i have lost some hearing in both my ears ,the audiologist said hearing loss can cause tinnitus ,not convinced on that one x

My tinnitus is due to hearing loss, stemming from scaring on my eardrum from an operation on my ears to fit grommets when was a child.
I get a high pitched hiss and a low tone hum. This matches the results of my hearing test which shows hearing loss in high and low frequencies. In fact, they said my midrange hearing was almost perfect.
Hearing loss is the most common cause. In fact, MRI are for he best part cautionary, as it's rarely anything serious.
Everyone has different experiences and underlying causes of Tinnitus. Stress, another common cause for tinnitus, makes tinnitus worse the stress of experiencing tinnitus causes s viscous circle.
Perception and experience may vary even given the type of tinnitus you gave.
A recent study I found interesting concluded that there maybe a bed to classify subtypes of tinnitus further. This would probably require extensive years of studies. Tinnitus being related to cognitive impairment of complex and we simply don't know enough about it.
