Hi a the end of June had a mental breakdown that resulted in a row with my family over the phone in which the voice inside my head took over.i have had this voice since last year but could manage it.i am all ready under my gp and am on meditation.did not get help when the voice started to take over telling me that nobody case not even my family. Finally after the row my care staff were alerted to what was happening and phoned my gp and told them I had self harmed and had suicidal thoughts.i the got a phone call from heath professionals who did a assessment over the phone who agreed I needed help.one was amargo who have been ringing me to see how I am.the my surgery rang and told me that they were worried about me with the voice inside my head and had emailed single point access and they would ring in about 75 hours after nearly over a week no phone then the voice was say see nobody wants to help you.rang surgery they rang back and informed me that they had sent the email to the wrong department and as it was urgent they rang them directly and told them it was urgent that they contact me to see what sort of help they could give me again they said in the next 75 hours they would ring it is now nearly a week no phone call as I’m suffering with voice egging me one to end it and still no help how many other people in the same boat told they will get help then no help come if no phone call today will ring surgery tomorrow.

Hi Joe

I'm really sorry to read that you're having difficulties right now. It seems as though you're having problems contacting people who can help you with the issues you've described - you mention a care team being available to you earlier in your message.

Are they able to progress your request or are they no longer involved in your case?

Regardless of that, if you are concerned that you are at risk and worried about what the voice is telling you, please consider following some of the advice which the lovely people at Mind have in the event of a mental health crisis:

mind.org.uk/information-sup...

You can call 999 if you feel that you are at risk and if you can't reach other forms of support. You're not wasting anybody's time and the NHS would rather you contact them if you're having a difficult time, even in the current pandemic.

Take care

Pat

Yay Joeb,

I'm so sorry that you are not getting the help and support that you so desperately need! I am not surprised and it's hard work having to keep on at them to get help! Unfortunately due to the lack of resources, funding and most importantly of all time some patients suffer (even before covid19) with mental health, physical health or both! I cannot offer you any practical advice other than keep ringing them which you're already doing. As a last resort, if the voices become too much maybe getting sectioned will get you the expert help and possibly alternative medications that maybe more helpful? Obviously no one really wants to go down that route but probably better than sitting and waiting! I really hope you hear from the mental health team soon and keep on at your GP!

Best Wishes

Xene

Thank goodness for that! Although in our family when it comes to the NHS the motto is “Don’t hold your breath!” In the meantime if you hit crisis point pull that cord! Also tell that voice in your head that people do care about you even ones you’ve never met! Let us know how you’re doing. Xene
