Sertraline: Been on 25 mg sertraline for 6 weeks... - Tinnitus UK
Sertraline
Hi , unfortunately not taken sertraline for many years but when I stopped them , I was told to miss a day every other day , then two days and so on ... This could be different information? You need to ask the GP ( agree they are useless)
I’m going through the same agonising problem as you with another drug . I took clonazepam for nearly two weeks at a low dose . DR told me to stop them after having some problems with them . No instructions of any tapering and now I’ve got screaming tinnitus, 4 new tones and horrendous hyperacusis. To add to everything else , I’ve developed tensor tympani in the right ear ..... Now feel sick with distress and worry , that this won’t return back to baseline.
Drugs are certainly not T’s best friend !!
Anyway on a positive note , they say that the T&H will settle after taking antidepressants,
Please write and tell us how you get on ?
All the best .
Hi,I tried them in the summer and after a week had to stop as my tinnitus went through the roof but it has settled again, you mentioned tensor tympani, I get a fluttering off and on.do you have this constantly?it is awful, I had a really bad week of this in the summer aswel but started taking magnesium and it seemed to settle it for 3 months but I have started getting a flutter again.
Thanks for the reassurance Michael . I’m feeling devastated right now and feel I cannot live with this . After taking the clonazepam, how long did it take for it to die down ?
The Tensor tympani is something I’ve looked up and matches the awful symptoms. It happens every 5 minutes or so . The hyperacusis is off the chart ! ... il definitely look at using magnesium . Are you taking any other meds to cause you reoccurring flutter ? Did the ENT diagnose it ?

Hi, it took about 3 weeks for the extra loud hiss to die away,a audiologist told me the symptoms sound like tensor tympani syndrome.no I'm not taking any other media but what I would say is my anxiety is really high and tensor tympani is a anxiety related condition because I had hyperacusis at the start of tinnitus but it went away 90% but it has come back a bit aswel, stuff like clocks and radios I hear a extra loud or a hiss.i take it you are a anxious person? I am that's why my tinnitus is always loud enough
Yes - I’ve developed anxiety through all of this . I’ve never had anxiety as bad as it is now though ! Cold turkey off clonazepam sent it spiralling out of control .
Thank you so much for your reassurance.
At least I can focus on improving.
I’ve been having wine to help me but I think this is probably making it a whole lot worse .
I hope your tensor T dies down for you .
If you find anything else that helps , would you please stay in touch .
All the best Michael

Serataline caused more noises in head and hyperecucus yesterday 1 dose of diazapam no hyperecucus today not so noisey so I'm going to Dr today to get off these anti depressants I have tried 3 different types all done the same to me no more AD for me see if I can't take diazapam maybe twice a week
What dose is your diazepam?
It’s definitely the AD that are causing your increased T and H .... it’s will settle down I’m sure . Let us know how you get on .

Hi zoe,I definitely will but definitely try magnesium and double the dosage,it won't do you any harm.magnesium helps muscle spasms,if we get anxiety under control we will beat this monster, this day in age doctors really don't know much about the hearing mechanism. Do you think the tablets have caused your hyperacusis? I'm sure you already know this but watch Julian Cowan Hill videos for reassurance.
Thanks Michael
I am weaning myself off of Sertraline very gradually by taking half a pill 12.5 mg. I have been on the reduced dose for awhile. I suspect that Sertraline interferes with sleep which then makes tinnitus worse.
How long did you take 12.5 mg and how long were you on and mg started.i been on 6 weeks 25 mg tried 50 made things worse I been on 25 mg 2 weeks started 12.5mg this morning and had diazapam last night to start the weening off ,how long is. A while on 12.5
I was taking 25mg for two years until about August when I decreased the dosage to 12.5. I am hesitant to completely stop in the fall given some seasonal affective symptoms and additional work stress. I find 12.5 mg to provide some help with mood and anxiety. I will probably discontinue this spring. I have tried abruptly stopping Sertraline in the past but experienced an increase in anxiety. You may not have the same difficulty since you have only been taking Sertraline for a short time. I found taking Sertraline in the am to be less impactful on my sleep than taking before bed. I hope your tinnitus lowers with the decrease in Sertraline.
I believe there's no medication, that can help the ringing in our heads remember that comes from the brain. I'm trying the pill for tinnitus Pro yeah, it was featured on the Shark Tank. I'll be posting after I finish taking these pills.
What was the name of the pill your using
I just stumbled on this pill as well, and from a news site too! However, I was still skeptical so I did some research but couldn't really prove that this was a scam until I found the legitimate abc site: abc.com/shows/shark-tank/ne...
If you go here, you can see that it's not listed. What's shocking is how they so brazenly use the show's image, fake everything, and are able to continue operating!
Never heard of them what country can you get them, thanks
