Tinnitus and water

I have awful tinnitus in my left ear - occasionally in the right but that's periodic - the left is continuous . I havent had any medical consultations .

So it completely disappears when my head is under water . I spend 10 mins with my head submerged in the bath every day - just so I have peace and quiet . Also .... when its severe - i use an ear candle and it is so incredibly soothing but the moment the candle is out - the tinnitus is there . Its driving me mad !!!!

HI, I know what you mean I stand in the shower every morning and ket the water 'blast' my left ear as I too have left ear continuous and right ear occasional, it is driving me mad, I just try to keep busy all the time, I might try an ear candle myself just for a bit of peace.

Kind Regards

I don't know about being "under water" to block out your tinnitus, but I think the ear candle might be creating a masking sound .....do you have a masker (like a hearing aid)? I was originally given one by my NHS audiologist but now I have hearing aids for a slight hearing loss which also provide a "hiss" and these really help to distract attention from the tinnitus. Incidentally I believe this unwanted sound is caused neurologically - further in the brain - not along the outer and middle sections of our hearing system.

I have been seeing a Functional Medicine doctor and he said that normally it is caused by the kidneys. He ran test and yes I have issues with liver and kidney detox. Phase 1 and phase 2. Started on supplements to help support them both.
