Waiting for CT results after suffering from one sided moderate hearing loss, tinnitus & some bouts of severe vertigo, couple with very poor balance.
Since my original appointment with the consultant the tinnitus and changed into pulsatile tinnitus, with the back ground normal tinnitus. If I bend over the pulsatile tinnitus increases in volume. My GP first though was acoustic neuroma, consultant thinks inner ear bones stiffening (Otosclerosis).
Anyone had similar symptoms?
Thanks

Hi and yes. I developed one sided tinnitus about 9 months ago. I told everybody that it depended on my kneck angle. Nobody listened or indeed believed me. I had MRI and was told no neuroma. That was it for the nhs, just live with it was the message. Then I found an article by Shore of Michigan State about TENS for tinnitus. It mentioned the 50% of Tinnitus sufferers who report kneck movement as modifying their tinnitus. The word Somatic (I think) was used in the paper. Good luck but so far it has been a dead end for me, the project is only art research stage in us. Oh and I have pulsile in the other ear, again nhs didn't seem to be interested or the private ENT guy I went to. Regards and Best Wishes
